Keith Urban said his wife Nicole Kidman is still having good days and bad days in the weeks since her mother’s death.
Janel Kidman passed away on September 7th, and it was very sudden. The actor was attending the Venice Film Festival and was scheduled to receive an award for his role in Baby Girl, but when he heard the news, he rushed to his family.
Kidman offered some thoughts on the relationship in a statement.
I am in shock and have to go to my family, but this award is for her. She shaped me, guided me, and made me who I am. I am so grateful to be able to share her name with you through Halina. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking and breaks my heart.
Urban was scheduled to release his album High in two weeks and was scheduled to appear on Today, after all. That visit was called off so he could be with his wife during her difficult time.
The return visit on Wednesday (October 30) gave fans a chance to sing Hi’s songs and update fans on what Nicole was up to.

“There are ups and downs,” he tells Hoda Kotb. “It comes in waves. But the outpouring has been amazing. So thank you everyone. I really appreciate it.”
Kidman kept a low profile in the weeks following Janelle’s death, but made a public appearance last Saturday (October 26). She took to the stage during Concert for Carolina, a benefit show led by Luke Combs in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Urban was the headliner, but just because he was working doesn’t mean she’ll miss her birthday. After being brought on stage, she handed the microphone to Eric Church, who led the crowd in a version of “Happy Birthday.”
